Upcoming Talk Explores Changing Culture for Girls

Nell Merlino, founder of Take Your Daughter to Work Day, will give a free presentation at the East Hampton Library Saturday for girls, parents, and administrators while promoting her new initiative, Born Worthy.

Ms. Merlino is an advocate for women and girls, and her latest project seeks to answer questions about how to help girls break "the pretty, polite, perfect expectation" and how to elevate girls so they are heard, appreciated, and respected. One question she will explore is what's next for girls in the midst of the #MeToo movement.

An expert in business growth and visibility for girls, Ms. Merlino is also behind Count Me In for Women's Economic Independence, the first online microlender.

The presentation is sponsored by the Neo-Political Cowgirls, a performing arts company that works with girls and women. Its founder and artistic director, Kate Mueth, will interview Ms. Merlino in the Baldwin Room at the library. It starts at 11 a.m.
