Springs Students Step Into the World of “Willy Wonka, Jr.”

Students will take the stage in the Springs School’s middle school musical production of “Willy Wonka, Jr.” on Wednesday at East Hampton High School. The whimsical, candy-coated performance begins at 7 p.m. While there are other daytime performances for parents and students, Wednesday’s show is the only public performance. It is free to attend.

The cast includes more than 45 students from sixth, seventh, and eighth grades who have been rehearsing since January. Taylor Atwell, a seventh grader, will perform in the role of Willy Wonka, and Sophia Tucci, an eighth grader, will play Charlie Bucket.

The cast has also received support of several local school performing arts programs, including the Amagansett School, Pierson Middle School, and East Hampton High School, which have offered advice, performance space, and spare materials and costumes. The directing team includes Meghan Kelly, Meghan Lydon, Laura Marino, and Amanda Waleko.
