On Protecting Accabonac

Accabonac Harbor will be the subject of a panel forum on Tuesday at Ashawagh Hall at 6 p.m. organized by the Accabonac Protection Committee. The guests will talk about how to protect and restore the harbor and its watershed.

Taking part are Judith Weis, a marsh scientist and author, Edwina von Gal of the Perfect Earth Project, Kevin McAllister of Defend H2O, Barley Dunne of the East Hampton Town Shellfish Hatchery, and a representative of the East Hampton Town Department of Natural Resources.

Topics to be discussed include the Accabonac salt marsh's ecological importance, pollution-control projects, environment-friendly landscape practices, sea level rise and shore hardening, and the relationship between shellfish and water quality.

Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m., and a question-and-answer period will follow the presentations. Admission is free.
