Pop-Up T.S.A. PreCheck Application Center to Open at MacArthur Airport

The Transportation Security Administration will host a temporary "pop-up" T.SA. PreCheck enrollment center at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma that will allow Long Islanders to enroll in the popular program from Nov. 27 to Dec. 7.

The application process allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to enroll directly in T.S.A. PreCheck, an expedited screening program. The benefits of the program allow travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear, and belt, keep their laptop in its case, and keep compliant liquids or gels in a carry-on in select T.S.A. airport checkpoint screening lanes. More than 200 airports participate in the program nationwide, as do dozens of airlines.

Those wishing to enroll can make an appointment online and complete the enrollment in person or as a walk-in at the center. The enrollment center will be in the Law Enforcement Office at the airport from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday during the enrollment week. Those with an appointment can park in the airport's short-term lot.

After completing the pre-enrollment steps online, which usually takes about 10 minutes, applicants type in the location “Ronkonkoma, N.Y.” and click on the search button to select the enrollment site for Long Island MacArthur Airport. Applicants can select an appointment date and time using the drop-down menu. It will show the first available time available, but individuals can choose a different date and/or time, the announcement said.

There is also a T.S.A. PreCheck enrollment center provided by IndentGO in East Moriches for which you can make an online appointment through the same website.

Applicants must bring documentation proving identity and citizenship. The Universal Enroll website can be visited for a list of required documents to do so.

The application fee is $85 and good for five years. It must be paid at the time of appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks will not be accepted. Fingerprinting is required during the in-person enrollment session.

After completing enrollment, successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number. The enrollee should enter it in the “Known Traveler Number” field when booking airline reservations. The number also can be added when booking reservations online via a participating airline website or by phone with the airline reservation center. Additionally, the K.T.N. can be entered in participating airline frequent flier profiles, where it will be stored for future reservations.
