Lighting Up Amagansett
The holiday season gets moving on Saturday with Light Up Amagansett, a holiday stroll along Main Street, where shops will be open with extended hours and offer refreshments, each putting their own spin on the celebration.
All have been invited to enjoy refreshments at the Amagansett Firehouse starting at 4 p.m. Santa, who is due at 4:30, will listen to children’s wishes and distribute presents, with musical accompaniment by the Sweet Adelines of the East End. At 5, Santa and the Sweet Adelines will lead carolers to the big tree near the Long Island Rail Road station, where the Amagansett Village Improvement Society will host a lighting ceremony.
At 5:30, High King, the town crier, will lead the group on a historical tour toward Main Street’s shops. There will be live music at the Amagansett Library and at Innersleeve Records, a wine tasting at Amagansett Wine and Spirits, and hot chocolate and cider at Grain Surfboards on Indian Wells Highway.
Laureen Vellante of Destination Haus, who spearheaded the campaign to coordinate shops’ activities with the festivities, can be contacted at 203-727-7298 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
