Hamptons Film Festival Needs Volunteers

Volunteers for the Hamptons International Film Festival work hard, but have fun and get to see movies as well. Hamptons International Film Festival

With the Hamptons International Film Festival to open on Oct. 4, volunteers are needed to serve as ushers, collect tickets, and generally lend a hand to keep things running smoothly. Anyone high school age and older can apply; a form is on the festival's website, hamptonsfilmfest.org, under the "Support" tab. At the conclusion of a shift, volunteers receive a voucher that can be exchanged for a ticket to see a festival movie. An orientation session is mandatory.

Volunteers are needed both for pre-festival weekdays, then Thursday through Monday, with options for shifts beginning at 9 a.m. and sometimes running as late as midnight. People willing to use their own cars, vans, and trucks have especially been encouraged to sign up. Opportunities include the East Hampton festival office and film venues, the Southampton movie theater, and at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor. Volunteers who want to work at special events associated with the festival must be 21 or older.

The contact for volunteers is Ash at volunteer@hamptonsfilmfest.org. Orientation is Tuesday at the East Hampton Middle School, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Among the ushers' jobs is distributing and collecting ballots for the audience award winner.Hamptons International Film Festival
