Free Outdoor Concerts Thursday
Thursday is for music lovers, with two free classical concerts in East Hampton Town: a Music for Montauk Summer Series concert at Third House and Musical Fireworks featuring Vassily Primakov and Natalia Lavrova, a renowned piano duo at the Arts Center at Duck Creek in Springs.
The concert organized by Music for Montauk will feature dance-inspired works by Edvard Grieg, Philip Glass, Jessica Meyer, and others, performed by a chamber orchestra and soloists. Attendees have been encouraged to bring picnic supplies and their families for the approximately hour-long event. The last scheduled free concert in the 2018 Music for Montauk Summer Series, the event will also include a performance by a surprise special guest.
Music for Montauk is a not-for-profit centered around delivering classical music to the Montauk and eastern Long Island communities in a way accessible to all. It has organized a string of free concerts in recent days around East Hampton Town. The concert will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Third House, for which directions are available at musicformontauk.org.
The second of Thursday night’s free concerts will also feature space for picnicking. The performers, Mr. Primakov and Ms. Lavrova, both were born in Moscow, before moving to the United States and studying at the Juilliard School in New York under the tutelage of Jerome Lowenthal.
Mr. Primakov has won awards at piano competitions across the world, and his disk of 21 mazurkas by Chopin was called a “Best of the Year” by National Public Radio.
Ms. Lavrova has toured internationally as well, winning top prizes at numerous competitions. Beginning at 6:30 p.m at The Arts Center at Duck Creek in Springs, outdoor seating has no admission price, though donations are deeply appreciated.
