Mike Ritsi’s recent resignation as East Hampton High School’s varsity baseball coach — a decision that Ritsi, who also resigned as manager of the Sportime Arena in Amagansett, said was prompted by “a shift in focus” — has resulted in his replacement by Vinny Alversa, the junior varsity’s coach in the past two years.

East Hampton High’s boys swimming team began the season with two nonleague wins this past week; the boys basketball team, by contrast, was 0-2 as of Monday, and the wrestling team, which has on it a number of tough, though inexperienced kids willing to work, had three of its competitors place fifth in the Frank (Sprig) Gardner invitational...
