The East Hampton High School boys swimming team will be represented at Saturday’s county meet by eight competitors, namely Christian Brierley, who is one of the team’s captains, Ethan and Owen McCormac, Aidan Forst, Colin Harrison, Kevin Pineda, and Jack and Ryan Duryea.

Joseph Vasile-Cozzo, the athletic director at East Hampton High School, announced at Tuesday’s school board meeting that because of increased enrollment the athletic teams would move from League VI to League V.

Some 50 years ago, David Wilt, who had been a children’s librarian in Philadelphia before moving here with Chuck Hitchcock, said what this place needed was “a school without walls,” one that would connect youngsters here with the many artists, writers, musicians, and professionals who were their neighbors.

The kids who are learning to play hockey at the Buckskill Winter Club now have two top-notch youth coaches to teach them — Tim Luzadre, who has been with the winter club since it began in 2005, and now also Bruce MacIsaac, a Sag Harborite whose junior Long Island Gulls teams in Nassau County made it to the nationals three times.
