Hordes of runners, almost 700 of them, turned out in Sag Harbor for Saturday’s Katy’s Courage 5K, and a Shelter Island High School freshman, Kal Lewis, won it, in 16 minutes and 25.57 seconds.

Caroline Cashin, who, with her husband, Ed, oversees Truth Training, a fitness studio in East Hampton, and who recently ran in the Boston Marathon (as did another East Hamptoner, Britton Bistrian), was not feeling worse for the wear, she said, at the studio last Thursday.

Mohamed Nabil, a 25-year-old native of Alexandria, Egypt, who last fall defeated the world’s 50th-ranked player, Chris Gordon, in an exhibition match at the Southampton Recreation Center, has brought the same energy he displays on the court to building the program at S.Y.S.’s Elmaleh Stanton Squash Center.

A winning streak, a winning streak. The East Hampton High School softball team this past week strung two wins together, defeating Hampton Bays 8-5 in extra innings on Saturday and following up on Monday with a 5-2 win over Harborfields, improving as a result to 4-5 in league play.
