Amagansett Notes

Tuesday is the day when the Amagansett satellite of the East Hampton Food Pantry opens at 3 p.m. for pickups. Originally located at Scoville Hall, its temporary home now is St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, at least until the hall is repaired after a fall fire that destroyed a good part of it.

A blood drive will be held on Monday from noon to 7:15 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, which is at the corner of Montauk Highway and Abraham’s Path. Anyone needing information can call 324-3842.

Alexandra Strada, a daughter of Michelle Murphy and Robert Strada, has been named associate photography editor of Time Out New York.
Ms. Strada is a 2006 graduate of the Ross School and a 2010 graduate of Bates College.

New books to borrow from the Amagansett Library this week are “Love in a Nutshell” by Janet Evanovich, “Innocent” by Taylor Stevens, “Animal Tool Behavior: The Use and Manufacture of Tools by Animals” by Robert W. Shumaker, “Private: #1 Suspect” by James Patterson, and “Van Gogh: The Life” by Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith.

Michael Fitzgerald of this hamlet was named to the dean’s list for his fall 2011 term at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., The Star has just learned. A mathematics major, Mr. Fitzgerald is a junior.
