Chief Michael Tracey of the East Hampton Village police introduced Christian E. Denton, the newest full-time officer in his department, to the village board on Friday.

“I’m proud to admit we stole him from Sag Harbor,” said Chief Tracey, seen above left. Mr. Denton, next to him with Barbara Borsack and Arthur Graham of the village board, is originally from Center Moriches. He received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Dowling College, and both his father and grandfather are military veterans. He has been a part-time officer in the village, and was one of 12 officers and first responders who were commended by the village board for helping save the life of an elderly man who had a heart attack in the Reutershan parking lot on Jan. 1.
