Three Arrested for Drunken Driving

A head-on collision last Thursday evening on Stephen Hand’s Path in East Hampton led to the arrest of one of the drivers on a drunken driving charge. Both vehicles were towed but neither man was injured.

East Hampton Town police said Eric P. Spear, 35, was driving a 2006 Jeep when he tried to make a right turn from Long Lane onto Stephen Hand’s Path and traveled into the oncoming lane at about 7:40 p.m. His Jeep struck a 2001 Toyota, driven by Carlos R. Pacheco, 47, of Kent, Wash. Mr. Pacheco had been heading south on Stephen Hand’s Path.

Mr. Spear was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, as well as several traffic violations. Held overnight for arraignment, he was released on $500 bail by Justice Steven Tekulsky.

Jacqueline A. Brown, 34, of Manhattan was arrested on a drunken driving charge after police said they saw her drive over the solid white line on Pantigo Road and onto the shoulder several times last Thursday at about 12:20 a.m. Ms. Brown appeared intoxicated, police said, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. She was arraigned later that day on a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge and released by Justice Tekulsky on $500 bail.

Kevin A. Verissimo, 35, of Fall River, Mass., was also charged with D.W.I. recently. On July 7, police said they saw him fail to make a complete stop when driving a 2011 Jeep on South Edison Street, at the Montauk Highway intersection, at about 2:30 a.m. When police spoke to him, they said, he appeared intoxicated and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was released on $300 bail following an arraignment before Justice Tekulsky.
