Marijuana and Cocaine Found, Cops Say

Police spotted contraband in the back seat

A 27-year-old Southampton man was charged on Friday with felony possession of marijuana and four misdemeanors after East Hampton Town police spotted contraband in the back seat of his car during a traffic stop.

Albert Zielinski was pulled over on Montauk Highway, near Handy Lane in Amagansett, at about 1:45 a.m., for reasons that were unclear. He was the sole passenger in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

The officer who approached the car smelled marijuana, according to the report, and found more than eight ounces of it, along with several containers of hash oil. Mr. Zielinski was additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and was held overnight. East Hampton Town Justice Lisa R. Rana released him on $5,000 bail following arraignment later that morning.

On June 29 at about 3:15 a.m., Fabrice Fauvet of Montauk, 33, was charged with misdemeanor drug possession after police saw him with open alcohol on West Lake Drive in Montauk. When police asked for his identification and he went for his wallet, a small packet of cocaine reportedly fell out onto the ground. Mr. Fauvet posted $100 bail at the Montauk substation, and was released with a ticket to appear in Justice Court tomorrow.
