County Calls Meeting Over Long Beach Road Plan
Suffolk County officials have called for a meeting on Wednesday to address a new plan for an area of Long Beach Road on North Haven where bicycle and vehicular traffic has raised concerns.
Legislator Jay Schneiderman and officials with the County Public Works and Transportation Department will meet to discuss the guardrails on Long Beach Road with residents of North Haven, Sag Harbor, and Noyac on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at North Haven Village Hall. Guardrails that were installed last year drew criticism from residents, who said they made the situation less safe.
The D.P.W. officials have come up with conceptual plans to construct a three-foot-wide and four-inch raised median to separate the vehicular travel lane from the bike lane. Long Beach Road is a county road.
