Winter Storm Warning Issued for Eastern L.I.

The first snowflakes of the season will bring more than just a dusting to the East End of Long Island.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Suffolk County from 4 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, as well as for portions of southeast Connecticut.

Snow is expected to begin early Saturday in East Hampton, according to the National Weather Service, before changing to snow and sleet during the daylight hours. Rain, snow, and sleet are expected to continue all day on Saturday, becoming all snow after 9 p.m.

Total accumulation is predicted to be between 4 and 7 inches.

The snow will stop Sunday morning by about 9, the weather service said.

A chance of snow returns on Tuesday evening.
